RBS picks Alison Rose as first woman to run British banking giant

The state-backed Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has picked Alison Rose to become its next chief executive, making her the first woman to head one of Britain’s biggest high street lenders. Sky News has learnt that RBS is likely to name Ms Rose‎ as Ross McEwan’s successor in the coming weeks, and potentially as soon as next week. The City and banking regulators are understood to be in the process of considering RBS’s application to appoint her, according to industry sources. Samsung launches its most powerful mobile chip yet ahead of Note 10 launch

With Samsung Galaxy Note 10 reveal just hours away (the event starts at 4 p.m. ET Wednesday), Samsung has launched a new, powerful smartphone chip — the Exynos 9825. The new chip, which is likely to power global variants of the Galaxy Note 10 (the U.S. versions will probably be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip), is Samsung’s first to be built in 7nm technology, which should provide for better power efficiency compared to its predecessor, the 8nm Exynos 9820. Universal Credit Chaos Continues

Thousands of struggling parents are turning to a community centre for help after universal credit left them unable to afford school uniforms for their children. The L6 centre, run by Labour councillor Gerard Woodhouse and staffed by a group of volunteers, has been “inundated” with referrals for free uniforms in recent weeks, with ten thousand applications expected before the new academic year begins. Iran atomic agency tells Europeans Tehran will reduce its nuclear deal commitments unless they act – Reuters

GENEVA (Reuters) – Iran’s atomic agency on Monday told European signatories to the 2015 nuclear deal it would further reduce its compliance in about a month’s time if they failed to uphold their commitments. Iran has already reduced its commitments to the deal by having more than 130 tons of heavy water and more than 300 kilograms of enriched uranium, the Atomic Energy Organization’s Behrouz Kamalvandi, said, according to the IRIB news agency.
